Scarlet Spotlight
Each month, Scarlet Guard recognizes an outstanding student who has made a difference through his or her contribution of time, talent and treasures in the classroom or within the Lincoln community.
- Name: Hilary Nicole Hadden
- Hometown: Scottsbluff, Nebraska
- Year:Senior
- Major: Advertising
- Campus Activities: Chi Omega, Scarlet Guard BOD, Cather Circle, Advertising Club
- Hobbies: Spending time with friends and family, golf, exercising, photography, reading, listening to my extremely random Ipod, cheering on the Huskers
- Favorite Quote: "Life is too short to wake up in the morning with regrets. So love the people who treat you right, forget about the ones that don't, believe that everything happens for a reason. If you get a chance, take it. If it changes your life, let it. Nobody said it would be easy, they just promised it'd be worth it..."
- Favorite Thing About SG: The people! There are so many wonderful people involved in SG with diverse qualities. Scarlet Guard is open to absolutely anyone on campus so I've met some amazing people that I wouldn’t have normally had the chance to meet. The socializing and networking activities Scarlet Guard hosts are such a fun way to make valuable connections.
- Highlight: Hilary has taken Scarlet Guard to a completely new level this summer. During our 23 Scarlet Scoop events, where incoming freshmen and their parents join us at the Wick Alumni Center for free UNL Dairy Store ice cream at the end of their NSE day, Hilary recruited more than 110 new members to Scarlet Guard. Her positive attitude and outgoing personality instantly draws people close, leaving a lasting impression. Hilary has also worked as a summer intern at the NAA and along with interns Sarah Quandahl and Lindsey Eastwood, increased our SG Discount Card Program from 14 to 44 partners! A true ambassador for SG, Hilary is a great role model and key component to the start of a successful school year ahead!
